Flexible Schedules for the 30-hour Classroom:

Students do not need a current driver permit to attend the classroom sessions.

Classes are available on Saturdays, Sundays, and Weekdays.  Choose a class as a primary schedule, one the student will attend most often, and list it as the first choice on the Teen Registration.  The class numbers are in bold at the top of each schedule e.g.: G311

During school vacations we schedule one-week classes.  This allows students with heavy academic, athletic or performance arts schedules to complete their driver education classroom in short period of time.

Students have the flexibility to "Make-Up" missed sessions on any of our University Avenue Instructor's scheduled classes.

The driver education classroom curriculum is divided into 10 sessions.  Each session covers specific information and most do not require information from previous classes to comprehend.  For sessions that require previous information, a review is incorporated into the start of the session curriculum.

The sessions can be attended in any sequence and may be started in any session.

Students need to successfully complete all 10 sessions to receive a certificate of completion.

Consistent Information & Interesting Classes:

Classes are designed on a Power Point platform to ensure a duplication of curriculum among our Instructors.

The classes are fast paced, interesting and multidimensional, combining lecture, discussion,
video clips, and group activities.

We project a 6 foot diagonal picture and videos include full stereo sound.

Textbooks are "Responsible Driving" published in 2000 by Glencoe/McGraw-Hill.  The Glencoe/McGraw-Hill Responsible Driving program is developed in partnership with AAA, the American Automobile Association.  The arrangement of curriculum is designed by ADTSEA (American Driver & Traffic Safety Education Association).

Our instructors follow the same programs for classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction.  We conduct instructor meetings regularly to promote consistency of information.     ______________________________________________________

Behind-The-Wheel Training:

We require the student have a current driver permit and completed sessions 3 & 4 before starting their Behind-The-Wheel training.  Sessions 3 & 4 provides the student with in-vehicle procedures, driving procedures and basic traffic laws.  They will be scheduled for BTW lessons sometime after finishing sessions 3 & 4.  (during busy times of year they might not be contacted until a couple of weeks after finishing the 30-hour classroom)

The specific dates students start the BTW is dependent on the BTW instructors' schedules.

An assigned driving instructor will contact your family directly to schedule dates, times and locations that fit both the student's and the instructor's schedules.

The State of Hawai'i allows each BTW lesson to be no longer than 1 1/2 hours.  Instructors will schedule the BTW lessons as six 1-hour lessons, four 1 1/2-hour lessons or a combination of the two.

Please review the topics covered each training session with your teen and practice the learned skills to accelerate the learning process.  If the student cannot perform the learned skills at a minimal level of competency, the instructor may postpone a lesson to allow you more time to practice.

Instructors do not practice the road test course unless the student has completed all items on the check-list.  Our goal is for the student to learn Proper Driving Skills.  You may, however, hire the BTW instructor for additional hours to specifically prepare for the road test, instructors are familiar with all road test areas.

Note:  We are a private company and do not allow Driver Education Instructors not affiliated with Accurate Driving LLC to utilize our classroom to promote their business.    Go to: "The Instructors" page for a list of our affiliate instructors.
